Forest Leader

Is forest conservation and nature your passion? â€‹We are currently looking for a fulltime ground leader to join our international group of nature lovers!

This role helps to manage the day to day running of the Forest Healing Foundation. This is a contract

position for fulltime (5  days per week, days are flexible). The location is in the village of Wepathana, near Digana. If not living nearby then accommodation and meals can be provided. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

- Communications: Managing social media channels and email inbox; helping produce an Annual Report

- Monitoring: Calculating KPIs and reporting to the Board; establishing an improved accounting process; monitoring Sri Lanka conservation news and providing updates to the team

- Fundraising: Managing GlobalGiving account; supporting grant applications; managing donor relationships; designing fundraising campaigns

- Stakeholder engagement: Helping arrange meetings/calls to build relationships with other likeminded organisations or individuals and our local community

- Project coordination: Helping to design and implement new conservation/restoration projects; coordinating resource requirements; problem solving; supporting the project lead.

Desired skills/experience

- Confident working independently and in a team

- Strong written and spoken English, ideally also Sinhala

- Creative mindset for developing engaging communications materials

- Highly organised, able to build processes where these do not yet exist

- Personable, polite and able to build relationships and trust with others

- Innovative and enjoys a challenge – someone who likes tackling new or unforeseen

problems will thrive in this role

- Conservation knowledge/experience – Ideally a relevant degree or equivalent years practical experience in environment, conservation or restoration projects

- NGO/charity experience – Experience of conducting the background administration for running an initiative. Charitable fundraising and social media promotion experience is especially desirable

- Passionate about forests and communities and supportive of the FHF’s 9 guiding principles
